Retired USCG marine inspector, OB Jones Sr. started Fife and Jones Surveyors in Virginia Beach in the late 1980's joining his practice with the late Alyn Fife, a well know marine surveyor in the Newport News, Virginia area. I worked and trained with OB and Alyn for several years, assisting them with surveys as needed. After OB passed from agent orange related cancer in 1995, I took over the business and as suggested by Mr. Fife, I added my name to the end. The company was dormant for many years while I was working for the US Navy and the Japanese Ship Classification Society, Nippon Kaiji Kyokai.
Having relocated to Charleston, SC with ClassNK in 2016, I am now re-launching the company to provide marine engineering, surveying and consulting services.

Based in Charleston, USA we are certified surveyors and offer services in Marine Hull and Machinery Damage, Condition surveys, Project Cargo, Cargo Claims, Cargo Handling gear certification and load testing, Class approved thickness gauging, Ultrasonic hatch cover testing as well as ISM/ISPS and MLC certified audits. We have associates in Charleston, New York, Norfok, Miami, New Orleans and Northern California with additional surveyor associates globally.
